Oh my god, is she wearing pants?

Well, yes I am! Once every second month or so I actually wear pants. My only rule is that they have to be super comfortable. I decided to combine them with this knitted statement cardigan from iiS of Norway and birthday-gifted lace underwear from Georgia Campbell - given to me by my lover. Sophisticated, but a bit whimsical at the same time.

I’m on fire

A sneak peak at what I did yesterday, and the reason I slept for 16 hours straight. Here I'm wearing the show-piece from Norwegian designer Vatle, of course. It was so much fun trying on so many of her designs, it really gave me a whole new perspective on the collection - and Kjersti Vatle as a designer. She really is amazing.

Monkey see, monkey do.

Oh, it's been a while since I last posted an outfit, hasn't it? It's about time then! Today I had the pleasure of meeting the wonderful Yvan Rodic aka the Facehunter - which is staying in Oslo for a couple of days. I was, as always, totally awkward and constantly stumbling over my words - but luckily Yvan was very sweet and even took time to have a cup of coffee with me. I do wonder, though; how come it's so hard for me to talk to strangers, while I have no problems walking half-way across town in these heels? This cardigan from iiS of Norway was a very good friend though, as it was a bit chilly outside today. I decorated it with a pin I found at a flea-marked last year and some earrings, actually. Who knew? I love personalizing my clothes; it makes them feel even more me.I'm wearing iiS of Norway cardigan, Gina Tricot shorts, Cubus belt, BikBok body, Fashionology necklace, H&M hat and Asos heels. I had a suitcase-bag too, but I kind of forgot to take pictures of it.

Whatever happens, happens

In Hinduism, the Peacock is associated with Lakshmi, which represents patience, kindness, compassion and good luck. It is also associated with Kwan-yin, (or Quan Yin), in Asian spirituality; which is a symbol of love, compassionate watchfulness, good-will, nurturing and kindheartedness.

It takes a road to go nowhere

Relax mode: on. No make-up, just lounging at home today. I've been wearing this little dress constantly the past couple of days; it's so easy to just throw on and feel comfortable in. No fuzz. Just pretty. I like it a lot.

VATLE | Ashes AW2011

What can I say? I'm impartial, for sure, and not going to hide it. I LOVE Ashes! The collection is inspired by the 80's grunge rock, mixed with a little bit of structured minimalism. Keywords include leather, studs, suede geo patches, faux-fur, knits, sheer fabrics and chains. New of the season is Vatle's menswear collection, which literary made people gasp - it's awesome! The models and I are wearing gold chains and VHS cassettes and tape braided into the hair, which was all done by the Cosmo Beauty team! These are some of my personal favorites, including the items I wore;

OFW AW2011 | My favorites

Last seasons celebrity "designers" really hurt the credibility of Norwegian designers and Oslo Fashion Week in general. I was absolutely furious at the time, but the standard has been so much better this season. I'm actually really impressed! Kudos for responding to our critic and raising the standard. Quality over quantity. Here's a recap of my favorites.

OFW AW2011 | SCA Ulven

I can't stop looking at these shoes. They are totally crazy cool. Not that I could ever walk in them; or, could I? I have been so focused on the footwear, I completely forgot to check out the clothes. It seems SCA Ulven is focusing on silk, comfort, asymmetric shapes and new lengths. I don't particularly like how the clothes look on the models; somehow it looks messy. I don't know if it's bad sowing techniques or a lack of ironing; but something is just really off. I like the idea of baggy comfort and I can appreciate the simplicity of clean looks, but some belts would have lifted the whole collection up to a new level and made a better first impression.

OFW AW 2011 | Helje Hamre

This mysterious man came out of nowhere last season, when he returned from New York to the Norwegian fashion arena with his debut collection. High-fashion, minimalistic and clean looks; very spot-on trendy right now. I do however feel like I've seen it all before; just not in Norway. Elise Øverland does leather dresses really well, and I can see how they both are inspired by their New York lifestyles. I do like leather, maxi-dresses and sheer stuff for sure, but I'm afraid it's nothing innovative. I'd of course love to own every single item of his collection, it's pretty for sure - but nothing really stands out. Well, except from those leather-patched riding-inspired pants; those are kind of perfect. If you have time, I highly recommend stopping by his website to check out last seasons video. Now that's awesome!

OFW AW2011 | Iis of Norway

Woodling. Even the name is enchanting. Iis of Norway grew to be one of my very favorites from last seasons fashion week with "The Magpie collection"; and man has she done it again. Talk about (kn)hitting a home-run. Bowler hats and bow-ties, the body, tights, stockings, patterns and knits; you know that's right up my alley - and when Siv, the designer, gave me front row seating : I'm not one to argue. Definitely the high-point of the day. I even got to meet her and officially say hi! The Woodling collection was very down to earth. Country-girl meets city-girl in a new-age heroin-chic kind of way. I love her cropped cardigans and sweaters so much; especially with that silky-sheer shirt hanging underneath. Perfectly casual, but dressed up at the same time. The new spin with pastel colored nomad-inspired patterns really lifted the whole collection as well. The bird-patterns are very Miu Miu SS 2010 - but in a good way. I never got around to those birds that season. Please enjoy these pictures of lovely Norwegian design, my friends. The iiS style is about fusing ethnic Norwegian knitwear and clothing tradition with a contemporary and sophisticated style. The essence of the iiS collections throughout the seasons lie in the nordic light and endless summer nights and dark winter melancholy. iiS strive to make the garments in the most sustainable way possible by amongst others producing in local workshops in Morocco using French recycled yarns, and organic cotton in woven styles and t-shirts.

Fashion Block Party

Check out this awesome video by OsloNights! If you look really close, you can see me on that catwalk too! Took a little unexpected blogcation the last week, but I'm back now. Post about London coming up asap.

I lost my virginity on the catwalk

So, yeah, I guess the secret is out now! I was chosen by the wonderful designer Kjersti of Vatle Designs to show of one of her creations on the catwalk at the awesome Fashion Block Party this Thursday! The whole day was crazy, but totally exciting and fun; I'm having so much trouble describing it! I got to meet a lot of wonderful people, including make-up artists, hair stylists, models, musicians and bloggers. It was my very first time on the catwalk, and I was so freakin' nervous I almost puked a couple of hundred times - and that's why I wanted to keep it a secret!
I got to wear one of my favorite pieces in the whole collection. The colors are just magnificent - and to top it all off I got to wear Finsk shoes! So awesome, yeah? A big thank you to Kjersti again; you rock my socks! And the people over at Cosmo Beauty for making me look so pretty!

I’m no angel. I can’t fly. It’s basic math

I have a little secret, but if I told you, it wouldn't be a secret anymore. Meanwhile, here's a little peak at one of my favorite White Baron items. This top is so romantic, you can almost feel the love. I like it especially because it can be worn both ways; and this edition is backwards! I felt a little less creative than usual, therefore the lack of images. But I did manage to pull off some kind of layering with two of the shots I found useful: which gave this particular look somewhat of an artistic, schizophrenic feel to it. J'adore!

“Frankly, my dear, I don’t give a damn!”

How awesome is this jacket? So pretty, so blue - it almost demands attention. The best part is that it's designed by The White Baron! The details are absolutely stunning, I especially like the buttons. They look like little, vintage coins. The furry details on the shoulders really capture the essence of how the Norwegian people have been perceived throughout history, but here it is translated into an awesome statement piece: and it's not just another winter jacket. Out of this world

Todays inspiration comes from the designer behind the Norwegian label Vatle. Vatle is lovely weird, awesomely eccentric and just the right amount of futuristic. I'm inspired by her innovative designs - and especially now that I know she is getting ready to show her SS2011 collection. The show kicks of this Thursday, and if you live in Oslo and haven't signed up for the Fashion Block Party; now is the time to do it! I know it is called Urban Synergy : and just the name of the collection is intriguing, to me. I'm really excited to see what she comes up with this time.

Little silky riding hood

This hooded scarf is called a Bashlyk. A Bashlyk is a traditional Iranian, Turkic and Cossack cone-shaped headdress hood; usually made out of leather, felt or wool. It is originally an ancient round topped felt bonnet with lappets for wrapping around the neck. This one is however made out of water-resistant silk, and is designed by The White Baron. I tried to glam it down a bit, and put my creative mind to work with the purpose of making it casually chic. I already know it would give a glamorous evening look an extra umph, but incorporating it into a daily outfit was rather tricky. I don't have a lot of silky items in my closet, so this became quite a challenge. I ended up mixing it with knits and lace details, as well as these new wedged booties. I kind of felt like a modern "little red riding hood"; 2010 silky edition.
I'm wearing The White Baron Balshlyk, thrifted lace top, H&M knitted cardigan, Cubus tights, Stradivarius skirt and DNA wedged booties.
