Hometown Tamarama

HOMETOWN TAMA from Marcus O'Brien on Vimeo.

A few years ago I lived in Sydney, and in that period I have no count on how many times I did the beautiful coastal walk from Bondi to Bronte. One of the beautiful places I passed was Tamarama. This video always make me think back on how beautiful that place is. Sitting on the rocks, -just watching the surfers and the coastal landscape.

This is your life.

I found this a couple of years ago, and it is what I want out of life too. -This is your life. Do what you love, and do it often.

"So the first thing Holstee's three founders - Mike, Fabian and Dave - did was sit together on the steps of Union Square and write down exactly what was on their minds and the tips of their tongues. It wasn't about shirts and it wasn't about their old jobs. It was about what they wanted from life and how to create a company that breathes that passion into the world everyday. It was a reminder of what we live for. The result became known as the Holstee Manifesto."

Ultimate dream house on Hamilton Island

My ultimate dream house of all time.
I found this home in the Danish BOBEDRE gold issue this year. I just could not resist to buy the magazine.

Photos: Renato D'Ettorre Architects, Solis house

Description of the house on the architects page:
"set within its stunning natural surroundings on hamilton island, the residence is sculpted from concrete, stone, block work and glass resulting in a sequence of dramatic volumes incorporating airy living spaces and private sheltered outdoor zones. the building elements are intertwined with reflection ponds and a swimming pool, lending a sense of tranquility and sensuous tactility whilst providing casual, elegant outdoor living amid the beauty and serenity of the island."

My ‘concrete’ place

I like where I live right now. The high ceiling, concrete walls, glass, metal, black and white.

A MINI and some wind through my hair… yes, please.

Photos: MINI

I have always said that a convertible would be MY kind of car. I am still driving around in my VW Polo (so old that it's becoming retro design any day now), but I'm dreaming of a convertible for spring 2012.
I've looked around for many different brands, but always come back to the MINI Cooper Cabrio. I love the design and it's really cool to drive. The MINI has from 2009 a really cool start/stop function and a round "thing" instead of a regular key. The roadster version will be launched spring 2012 and is really cool, but I think in a little longer perspective a 4-seater is preferred. What do you think?

LOUNGE CHAIRS

Lounge chairs are something I loooooooove, but don't have room for where I live now. Here are some of my favorites:

What's your favorite?

Let there be light.

I almost can't wait for moving apartments. I have packed already. I have 1000 different ideas about how it is and how it should be. I do not know all about the lighting, so then my thoughts goes to my favorite lamps and which ones I would love and fit in.

Arco lamp from Flos will always be on my wish list

Photo: chictip

maybe moooi's Random light
Photo: moooi

or globall from FLOS as floor lamp or pendant?
Photo: FLOS

Maybe it will be copies from the furniture store LIVING or similar? Or maybe it will be IKEA this time? The budget will probably set the ground rules, and I have to look at the concrete ceiling and its possibilities.

Time will show.

What is your favorite lamp?

If you don’t like something, change it.

Something new going on. Won't tell until I know the result.

My place

This is where I live right now. Not my apartment, only renting - but all the interior is mine. So it feels a little bit like my own - I feel at home here.

Dream house for sale

Photos: finn.no

This house was for sale a year ago or similar. The add was removed and I regretted not saving the photos. Now it's on the market again and here are the fabulous photos from this amazing house. I could not leave any of the photos out, so you've gotten quite a few. Hope you enjoy it!
Love everything about it, except for the furniture. Love the Bubble chairs, the Globall lamps and the outdoor furniture though.

Another beautiful Sydney home

Enda et fint hus fra Australia. Dette fra Sydney Harbour.

Keeping the magazines….digital

FAVN – new sofa from Fritz Hansen

Project: own photographs on wall, part 2

Minimalist by the ocean

Nydelig hus på Vestlandet. Funnet på finn.no.

Project: March – another place to live

Flytting, flytting.

Project: own photographs on wall

Photo: BOBEDRE

I can't wait for this project to be finished!

The Opera House – Oslo

Photos: NIL, Designers Saturday 2009
